TOPIC: No Longer A Mistake [Open Heaven for Teens 3 November 2022]

MEMORISE: Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 2 Timothy 2:19

READ: 2 Peter 2:20-22

  1. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
  2. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
  3. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Philemon 1:1-25 , Jeremiah 36-37

MESSAGE:

Have you ever wondered why David was tagged a man after God’s heart despite all that he did? I was surprised too the first time I came across that title in the Bible. I therefore studied the life of David and discovered that whenever he erred and was corrected, he repented and never committed the same offence again. When he slept with Bathsheba and killed Uriah, he repented and never did that again. David always repented genuinely, unlike many Christians today who would commit one sin, ask God for forgiveness and do the same thing a few days after. Committing the same sin twice or even more is no longer a mistake, it has become a habit.

It is sad that many Christians hide under the Scripture “The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41), whereas God’s word in 1 Corinthians 10:13 makes it clear that no one will be tempted beyond what he/she can handle. If you really want to do away with sin, you can and the best way is to abstain from all appearances of evil.

KEY POINT

Grace will never abound in sin.

HYMN: Just As I Am

  1. Just as I am, without one plea,
but that Thy blood was shed for me,
and that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
Oh Lamb of God, I come, I come.
  2. Just as I am, and waiting not
to rid my soul of one dark blot,
to Thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,
Oh Lamb of God, I come, I come.
  3. Just as I am, though tossed about
with many a conflict, many a doubt,
    fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
  4. Just as I am poor, wretched, blind
Sight, riches, healing of the mind
Yea, all I need, in Thee to find
Oh Lamb of God I come,
  5. Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
    wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
    because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
  6. Just as I am Thy love unknown
    Has broken every barrier down;
Now to be Thine, yea Thine alone,
Oh Lamb of God I come, I come.
  7. Just as I am, of that free love,
    The breadth, length, depth and
    height to prove,
Here for a season, then above,
Oh Lamb of God I come, I come.
