TOPIC: Jesus Listens [Open Heaven for Teens 24 October 2022]

MEMORISE: If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 14:14

READ: Matthew 7:7-11

  1. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
  2. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
  3. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
  4. Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
  5. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Timothy 4:1-16, Jeremiah 11-13

MESSAGE:

Imagine that as the Class Representative, you were called upon to distribute test scripts to your classmates and everyone is calling for your attention at the same time. Im sure you would get confused and not know who to answer first. This is just very little compared to what Jesus goes through every day. People call on Him from different parts of the world every second. However, as busy as He is, when any of His children calls on Him, He stops, pays attention and attends to their needs.

My child, Jesus listens whenever you call on Him. These days, many issues persist because Christians learn and read about prayer more than they pray. Another reason problems persist in the lives of children of God is that, rather than talk to God about them, they grumble or complain to friends and family. Psalms 34:15 says: “The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.”

Is there any issue you have been battling with for so long? This is the time to talk to Jesus about it because He listens.

ACTION POINT:

Spend time in talking to God about the things bothering you today.

HYMN: WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

  1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
    All our sins and griefs to bear;
    What a privilege to carry
    Ev’rything to God in prayer
Oh! what peace we often forfeit,
Oh! what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
    Everything to God in prayer.
  2. Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a Friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrow share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
  3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Saviour still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
