TOPIC: Father Of The Fatherless [Open Heaven for Teens 21 October 2022]

MEMORISE: A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. Psalms 68:5

READ: Matthew 6:26

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Timothy 1:1-20, Jeremiah 5-6

MESSAGE:

Today’s message is a message of hope, particularly to those who have lost their earthly fathers or whose biological fathers do not play any active role in their upbringing. It is true that a father is a ladder through which one can climb to greater heights in this world. Notwithstanding, God is the greatest and best Father. If you have Him as your Father, you will not only go far in life, you will fulfil your destiny.

God is the Father to the fatherless. Consider the birds of the air, He feeds them. He feeds the animals of the field. Don’t be sad if you don’t have an earthly father that cares for you. Be comforted in the fact that your Heavenly Father sees and cares more than any earthly one. He will see you through, guide, protect, provide and fight for you. All you need do is stay with Him, ask Him to be near you always. Be like the wise fish who didn’t ask for eyes all over its body so that it could see sharks when they approached it or the one that asked for wings to easily fly out of the water when he was pursued. The wise fish asked God to always be by its side and so survived in the shark-filled water. You too will survive if you stick with God.

KEY POINT

You will achieve great feats in life with God as your Father.

HYMN: LEAD US HEAVENLY FATHER

  1. Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us
    o’er the world’s tempestuous sea;
    guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
    for we have no help but Thee;
    yet possessing every blessing,
    if our God our Father be.
  2. Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us:
    all our weakness Thou dost know;
    Thou didst tread this earth before us,
    Thou didst feel its keenest woe;
    lone and dreary, faint and weary,
    through the desert Thou didst go.
  3. Spirit of our God, descending,
    fill our hearts with heavenly joy,
    love with every passion blending,
    pleasure that can never cloy:
    thus provided, pardoned, guided,
    nothing can our peace destroy.
