TOPIC: Open Your Ears [Open Heaven for Teens 13 October 2022]

MEMORISE: Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Psalms 40:6

READ: 1 Samuel 3:1-10

  1. And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.
  2. And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;
  3. And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;
  4. That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.
  5. And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.
  6. And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.
  7. Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.
  8. And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.
  9. Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
  10. And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10, Isaiah 50-52

MESSAGE:

Years ago, people used to volunteer to clean the camp and make it conducive for our
conventions. One day during that period, I had worked for the whole day and was very tired. When I got home, I went to bed and gave a strict order that I didn’t want to be disturbed so that I could have enough rest. Not long after I started sleeping, my wife came to wake me.

Initially, I wasn’t happy about this, but when she told me that one of the volunteers from my village had died, the sleep disappeared from my eyes. I jumped up and ran to where she was laid. As we started praying, God said to me, I thought you didn’t want anyone to disturb you; now that I have your attention, tell everyone to leave. I then sent everyone away and the Lord and I discussed for a while after which the woman came back to life.

God wants to talk to you all the time; it is therefore your duty to keep your ears open and not allow the noises from friends, social media, entertainment and the like block your ears. Make out time to study His word because He also speaks through it.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please speak to me at all times.

HYMN: Just As I Am

  1. Just as I am, without one plea,
    but that Thy blood was shed for me,
    and that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
    Oh Lamb of God, I come, I come.
  2. Just as I am, and waiting not
    to rid my soul of one dark blot,
    to Thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,
    Oh Lamb of God, I come, I come.
  3. Just as I am, though tossed about
    with many a conflict, many a doubt,
    fightings and fears within, without,
    O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
  4. Just as I am poor, wretched, blind
    Sight, riches, healing of the mind
    Yea, all I need, in Thee to find
    Oh Lamb of God I come,
  5. Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
    wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
    because Thy promise I believe,
    O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
  6. Just as I am Thy love unknown
    Has broken every barrier down;
    Now to be Thine, yea Thine alone,
    Oh Lamb of God I come, I come.
  7. Just as I am, of that free love,
    The breadth, length, depth and
    height to prove,
    Here for a season, then above,
    Oh Lamb of God I come, I come.
