Senator Dino Melaye may have rubbished whatever might have been left of his personal integrity, credibility and administrative competence by describing the sitting governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello as “unelected, coronated, phantom and calamitous.”
The controversial Red Chamber lawmaker made the uncomplimentary remarks about his state governor while playing the guest on a Television Continental (TVC) programme a short while ago.
Melaye who actively played very key roles in ensuring the victory of Bello as the governor in 2015, regretted his support for the governor then even as Chairman, Inauguration Committee of the then in-coming governor of Kogi State.
Melaye stated: ” Yes, I was Chairman, Inauguration Committee. I was blind then but now, I can see. We rallied around Bello to prove a point that a young man could also govern the state and that somebody from any part of the state can rule the state.
“I also supported him based on the fact that he claimed to have graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, my Alma Mater but unfortunately, he only passed through the university but never allowed the university to pass through him. His government has been calamitous.
“I cannot rival with Bello because it is a far cry. He lacks all that I possess. As I am talking now, there is no security in Kogi State. Killing is currently going on as if it has become a fashion to kill in the state.
“All that will soon stop when, by the grace of God, I take over from Bello as the next governor of Kogi State.”; Melaye lashed.
