Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, has apologized for his unsavoury statement against the Nigerian media.

The American tactician laid into the Nigerian media following Nigeriaā€™s 2-0 win against the Mares of Botswana at the 2022 Africa Womenā€™s Cup of Nations on Thursday night.

The Super Falcons lost their opening game in the competition against Banyana Banyana of South Africa 2-1 and were roundly criticised for their poor display in the encounter.

Waldrum mentioned something about the Nigerian media being ā€˜negativeā€™ but has withdrawn the statement after he was cautioned by the Nigeria Football Federation.

ā€œThe comments are regrettable and I withdraw them in entirety. Actually, I will say the statement did not come out the way I intended,ā€ he told thenff.com.

ā€œI hold the media everywhere, including Nigeria, in high regard and I only wish they could be a little more empathetic to us when we lose or draw matches.ā€

The Super Falcons will take on Burundi in their final Group C game on Sunday.
