Former Kaduna lawmaker, Sen Shehu Sani has reacted to reports of the purported resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the development in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Monday, Sani said he was not surprised about the resignation of the APC National Chairman.

Sani said he knew Adamu would be removed from office from the moment he announced former Senate President Ahmad Lawan as the party’s consensus presidential candidate before the APC presidential primary.

The former lawmaker added Adamu’s resignation did not come to him as a shock following his comment about the approved list of principal officers of the National Assembly.

He wrote: “From the moment he announced Lawan as the ruling party’s consensus Candidate and was left stranded by Buhari to the moment he was kept in the dark on the approved list of principal officers of the National Assembly, I knew that Adamu would thread the path of Adams.”

Adamu, a former Governor of Nasarawa State, allegedly resigned from his position on Sunday night.

The party’s National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, also followed the decision of his principal ahead of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) meeting slated for Monday, July 17, which is a prelude to Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings set for July 18 and 19.

Reports also indicate a unanimous agreement within the NWC supporting the mandatory resignations of both the National Chairman and his Secretary.

Additionally, there is purported discontent over alleged ambiguity in the party’s 2022 account audit, which was reportedly “concluded and submitted without any of the members reviewing it.
