Career
Mauricio was 14 years old when he began his football career. This was when Marcelo Bielsa scouted him, along with Jose Griffa, the former Atletico Madrid player, to play for Newell’s Old Boys club.
He played with Newell’s Old Boys for six years. After that, he went on to play for PSG, where he was made captain in just a few months, Bordeaux, and twice for Espanyol. In 2000 and 2006, he won the Copa Del Ray trophy twice for Espanyol, and in the 2002 FIFA World Cup, he played at the Korea/Japan stadium for Argentina.
He made more than 300 games for Espanyol after he’d won Copa Del Ray two times for the Spanish team in 2006. then, he retired just after he’d won the trophy.
Mauricio then took up studies to help him in his career as a coach, and he got his qualifications. His first job was in coaching the Espanyol women’s team, and then in January 2009, he took the men’s team, where he led them out of relegation and they finished in tenth position.
After he’d spent four years in Espanyol, in January 2013, Mauricio left and got an appointment to coach the premier league club, Southhampton Football Club, where in just the first season, he took the team to their highest position ever, in eighth place in the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
He later joined Tottenham Hotspur football club just after one full season with Southampton, where he led the team to finish spectacularly in the top for a position in the four seasons. For the first time ever in the club’s football history, he took the team to the UEFA Champions League.
He has signed a two-year contract with Chelsea Football Club, and he is currently the head coach of Chelsea.
Early Life
Mauricio Roberto Pochettino Trossero was born poor in a small village of a few hundred people in Argentina on March 2, 1972.
Mauricio is the youngest child of Hector and Amalia Pochettino. He has an older brother named Javier, but unlike his older brother, whom no one seems to know much about and even his whereabouts, Mauricio is famous and internationally recognized.
As a child, he loved to play football, and at times, he even said he had a choice either to choose agriculture as a career or football. But for Mauricio, that wasn’t really a choice because his love for football was more powerful than farm work.
So he got his father to get him a ball, and ever since then, the ball and Mauricio have become inseparable friends. In an interview, he recalled playing in the fields while his brother and parents worked. He’d be running around and sweating and disappearing for hours on end.
He said he remembered playing with his friends on the streets of his village and with other boys from the neighboring street. One of his fondest memories was playing football in the afternoon with his friends till evening, then running home to the smell of his mother preparing dinner.
Still, in the evening, before dinner was served, Mauricio said his father would come back from the fields and would play with him and his brother till it was time for food.

His professional football career began in 2015 with his signing into Tottenham Hotspur. Before that, he trained at the academy of Southampton during his father’s managerial career at the club.

Mauricio’s first son, Sebastiano, was born on January 24, 1995. He studied at the European Baccalaureate of Sciences at St Paul’s School in Barcelona. Unlike his younger brother, who is active on the football field, Sebastiano serves from the sidelines as a fitness coach and sports scientist.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea Deal
Chelsea Football Club appointed Mauricio as the head coach for the club. He signed a 2-year deal with the club to replace the former coach, Graham Potter, who left the club on April 2nd.
In his contract, Mauricio added an option for another year, making it a total of three years with Chelsea. This is due to some very bad results in the past seasons, where Chelsea lost eight games out of eleven, with just one win.
As arranged, Mauricio’s first job will be to figure out who will stay and who will leave the team because the management of Chelsea is under severe pressure to please the Financial Fair Play and its rules. This is after the club has spent 600 million euros in the past 12 months on just player transfers.
