Meet Chad Stahelski, an American who’s a real pro in the movie world. He does all sorts of interesting stuff, like being a stuntman, producer, actor, stunt coordinator, and director.
You might know him for making the awesome action movie “John Wick” in 2014 and its sequels. He was also the stunt double for Keanu Reeves in the super cool movie “The Matrix” from 1999.

Chad Stahelski Biography
Chad F. Stahelski was born on September 20, 1968, in Palmer, Massachusetts. While we don’t have much information about his high school, parents, or siblings, what we do know is that he had a background in kickboxing.
At the age of 24, Chad began his career in the film industry as a stunt performer. Before that, he worked as an instructor at the Inosanto Martial Arts Academy in California, where he taught a martial art called Jeet Kune Do/Jun Fan.

Chad Stahelski has been in the movie business for a long time. He started as a stuntman and worked his way up to being a director. You might have seen the movie “John Wick” that he co-directed. It was a big deal in his career, making over $88 million!
Stuntman
Back in 1994, Chad F. Stahelski was doing stunts for a movie called “The Crow.” Chad and another stunt guy, Jeff Cadiente, were filling in for actor Brandon Lee. Unfortunately, there was a sad accident during filming in 1993 because of some problems with the fake bullets they were using. Brandon Lee got hurt, and he later passed away in the hospital during surgery. To finish the movie, they used special effects to put Brandon Lee’s face on Chad Stahelski’s body.
In 1997, Chad Stahelski and David Leitch started a company called 87Eleven. They were experts in making awesome action scenes for movies.
Chad Stahelski also did stunts for Keanu Reeves, and later they worked together on the “John Wick” movies. He did stunts for Keanu in “The Matrix” movies and even helped plan the stunts for those films. In 2009, Stahelski and David Leitch worked on a movie called “Ninja Assassin,” where they took charge of the action scenes and stunts.
In 2012, while Chad Stahelski was working on stunts for the movie “The Expendables 2,” there was another sad accident on set. A stuntman named Kun Liu lost his life in an explosion. After this, Liu’s family filed a lawsuit against Chad Stahelski.
Director
Chad Stahelski and his friend David Leitch teamed up to direct the super cool action movie “John Wick” in 2014. It was written by Derek Kolstad and starred Keanu Reeves and Michael Nyqvist. The movie hit theaters on October 24, 2014, and people loved it so much that it made more than $88 million.

Chad took charge as the main director for the next one, “John Wick: Chapter 2.” Then, he kept leading the way for the third movie, “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” in 2019. And guess what? He’s still at it with the fourth film, “John Wick: Chapter 4,” which came out in 2023.
Apart from the awesome “John Wick” series, Chad Stahelski also pitched in for some extra filming in the movie “Birds of Prey.” This guy knows how to make action movies that we all enjoy!

Chad Stahelski was married to another stunt performer, Heidi Moneymaker, but they split up in 2018.
Chad and Brandon Lee, who was his good buddy, worked together in movies. They were so close that they even trained together at the Inosanto Academy. They had a strong bond as friends.
