Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino has warned new Chelsea signing, Cole Palmer, not to expect regular game time at the club.

The England international joined the Blues in a £42.5 million deal on transfer deadline day.

Before making the switch to Stamford Bridge, Palmer played just 19 Premier League games for Manchester City.

Pochettino had told reporters on Friday that the England youth team star joined Chelsea with a view to secure regular minutes this season.

He has now warned the England U21 international not to expect too much.

Pochettino is adamant that the player did not get assurances before deciding to make the move.

“If someone guarantees to some player to play ok, that is not the case here,” Pochettino said during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“The player needs to come and perform and let us manage.

“But for us even when you pay big money for a player at Chelsea it doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to play. That is the wrong way to think.

“We never sign players who we promise will play. It has never happened, even when we signed Messi at Paris Saint-Germain.

“I would never promise them they will play 20 or 30 games. Come on, that is very disrespectful

“That is why we have 24, 25 players.”
