Enrique was dismissed from his post following Spain’s elimination from the World Cup last 16 against Morocco, having first been appointed back in the summer of 2018.

Now, Enrique is set to turn his attention back to club football, where he made his name with Roma, Celta Vigo and Barcelona – winning two league titles and the 2014/15 Champions League with the latter.

“I want to coach, I see myself wanting to take on a club and be able to develop with greater finesse and precision what I have not been able to do in the national side,” he told Ibai Llanos on Twitch.

Enrique did confirm, however, that he plans to take some time away from football first.

“I will probably wait for next season. This morning, I was told I’ve been signed up for a mountain bike race that I’m going to do with my brother.”

The 52-year-old has plenty of La Liga experience to his name and has previously spoken about his interest in working in the Premier League.

“Iโ€™d like to manage in England at some point,” Enrique said in 2013. “My wife wouldnโ€™t like the weather, sheโ€™s from Barcelona and likes the sun. It would depend on the team and the football they played.”
