Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a double blow in their search for a new head coach, with Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto De Zerbi currently unlikely to take the role, 90min understands.

Spurs recently parted ways with Antonio Conte a few months prior to the expiry of his contract and have placed his former assistant, Cristian Stellini, in interim charge.

While Tottenham finish a disappointing 2022/23 season under Stellini, they are remaining vigilant in their hunt to find a permanent successor to Conte.

However, sources have told 90min that two of their top targets have signalled that they are overly interested in the role at this time.

Nagelsmann immediately emerged as a leading contender to take the Tottenham gig following his surprise sacking by Bayern Munich a fortnight ago.

But he is currently in contact with Chelsea regarding their vacancy and it is believed he would prioritise a move to Stamford Bridge should he decide to head to England.

Meanwhile, Brighton boss De Zerbi is not currently convinced that Spurs’ project is the right one for him, though this could still change between now and the end of the season – the Italian has a release clause in his contract which becomes active in the summer.

De Zerbi’s Brighton travel to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday as both sides continue their fight for a European place.

Spurs also see former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique as a candidate for the job, but he is also considered a top target by Chelsea.
