Not too much is known about the upcoming live-action Star Wars series The Acolyte. However, recent comments from star Jodie Turner-Smith hints at who she might be playing.
Speaking to Collider, Turner-Smith wouldnât say much about her role in the upcoming series but did praise Amandla Stenberg, who is set to star in the series, as well as director Kogonada, who worked on the series.
âI was working with my favorite director that Iâve worked with so far, Kogonada, and under the leadership of Leslye Headland,â said Turner-Smith. âIt is incredible to see. I canât wait to see how this show turns out. Amandla [Stenberg] is such an incredible performer. I, unfortunately, didnât have any scenes with her, but I got to see a little bit of what theyâve been doing, and I think itâs gonna be epic, and itâs nothing that anyone has seen before inside of that universe.â
When it came to her character specifically, Turner-Smith was asked if she ever got to wield a lightsaber in the series. The actress said she didnât but did tease that she got to wield something else before stopping herself.
âI didnât get to use a lightsaber⊠but I did⊠not get to use a lightsaber⊠because I am not a Jedi,â said Turner-Smith.
The series stars Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), who join previously announced cast members Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Charlie Barnett.
The Acolyte is described as a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers that will be set within the final days of the High Republic era. Further details about its characters havenât been revealed yet, but the project title references a Sith in the beginning stages of their training under an experienced Sith Lord.
