As the dark nights draw in, there are plenty of new movies and shows to watch on Netflix if you’re looking to stay indoors instead of venturing out into the cold.

Movie highlights include Enola Holmes 2My Father’s Dragon, and The Wonder. And if you’re looking for a show to binge-watch, you might want to consider workplace comedy Blockbuster or the new German horror mystery 1899 which comes from the people behind the massively successful Dark.

Check out all of our highlights below and then keep scrolling for a look at all of the other titles that are landing on Netflix over the coming weeks.

2nd November

Killer Sally

Sally McNeil, a former professional bodybuilder, is currently serving time in prison for the murder of her husband Ray. But what led her to kill him? According to the prosecution at the time of the court case, the killing was an act of premeditated murder by a jealous and bullying wife. But according to Sally, it was an act of self-defence against the man who abused her.

This new documentary aims to get to the truth behind Sally’s story.

Blockbuster: Season 1

The rise of Netflix led to the death of Blockbuster so it’s kind of ironic that this show is coming to the streaming service. Still, if you were a fan of the one-time thriving rental service, you might want to tune into this workplace comedy that takes place in the last surviving Blockbuster store in the US. Randall Park, Madeline Arthur, and Melissa Fumero are among the cast and while they’re sure to deliver some big laughs, don’t be surprised if you shed a tear if you’re prone to reminiscing about the much-loved store.

Lookism: Season 1

Based on the South Korean webtoon that debuted in 2014, this new animated series tells the story of a high school student who struggles to thrive in a society that values beauty above all else. He is bullied because of his weight and height but for reasons that you’ll understand if you have seen the webtoon, he is suddenly given the opportunity to switch to a new body that fits society’s beauty standards. Will his life change for the better? You’ll know more than me if you are a fan of the original webtoon comic.

The Fabulous: Season 1

This new South Korean series follows the friendships, struggles, and romances of a group of young people working in the competitive fashion industry. Starring SHINee’s Minho and Rookie Cops star Chae Soobin, this upcoming series has been much anticipated by fans of its stars.

Enola Holmes 2 (2022)

The first Enola Holmes movie was very entertaining so hopes are high for this sequel which sees Enola take on her first official case as a detective. In this one, she is tasked with looking for the missing sister of a penniless matchstick girl. When the case becomes far more complicated than she expected she calls upon her famous brother Sherlock to help her with the case.

Orgasm Inc: The Story of OneTaste

This new documentary focuses on the now-defunct global wellness company OneTaste which gained a lot of fame and followers due to its practice of ‘orgasmic meditation.’ The company was forced to close down in 2018 when some of its members came forward with some disturbing allegations and the people behind the business then became the subject of an FBI investigation. Trafficking, fraud, and prostitution were just some of the allegations that hit OneTaste and you can learn more about the shady goings-on when the documentary lands on this date.

State of Alabama vs. Britanny Smith

In January 2018, Alabama woman Brittany Smith fatally shot Todd Smith, a homeless man who sexually assaulted her and tried to strangle her brother after she allowed him into her home. Brittany was jailed for the crime after pleading guilty to murder and this documentary sheds light on her case and the massive debate it caused at the time about whether or not she was justified in her killing of Todd.

Falling For Christmas (2022)

Christmas is coming and that means lots of festive movies will be showing in the weeks leading up to the holiday season. There are several Christmas-themed movies debuting on Netflix in November, including this one starring Lindsey Lohan as a spoiled heiress who gets amnesia after an accident and finds herself in the care of a handsome blue-collar lodge owner. Will the two fall in love? It will be a Christmas miracle if they don’t!

Lost Bullet 2: Back For More (2022)

Lost Bullet was a big hit for Netflix when the French-language movie debuted in 2020 so it’s unsurprising that a sequel was given the green light. In the first movie, Leno (Alban Lenoir) was wrongly convicted of murder and he had to find the ‘lost bullet’ that could prove his innocence. In this second movie, he is on the hunt for the people behind his brother’s murder. Expect the usual high-octane mix of car chase scenes and gunplay as he sets out to get justice for his dead bro.

Capturing The Killer Nurse

In the recent Netflix movie The Good Nurse, Eddie Redmayne starred as Charlie Cullen, the registered New Jersey nurse who killed many of the patients in his care. This new documentary series delves into Cullen’s story and how his crimes were eventually uncovered by one of the nurses working with him.

Is That Black Enough For You ?!? (2022)

This new documentary explores the history of Black representation on screen, focusing mainly on the Blaxploitation and social issue movies of the 1970s. Samuel L. Jackson, Laurence Fishburne, Whoopi Goldberg and Zendaya are just some of the people interviewed in this look back at a decade that changed the face of Black cinema.

My Father’s Dragon (2022)

Oscar-nominated studio Cartoon Saloon (The Secret Of The KellsWolfwalkers) is behind this new movie based on the 1948 children’s book of the same name. It tells a fantastical tale of Elmer Elevator, a young boy who runs away from home to search for a captive dragon. Jacob Tremblay (Room), Gaten Matarazzo (Stranger Things), and Judy Greer (Kidding) are among the voice cast of what should be a very special and magical movie.

14th November

Stutz (2022)

In this documentary from Jonah Hill, we learn about his therapist Phil Stutz and the therapeutic techniques that have helped the actor with his mental health struggles.

16th November

The Wonder (2022)

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, this latest movie from Sebastian Lelio (A Fantastic Woman) is set in the Irish Midlands in the 1850s and tells the story of Lib Wright (Florence Pugh), an English nurse who is summoned to the region to observe a deeply religious girl who has managed to survive for months without eating any food. Some people think this is a miracle but Lib suspects something sinister might be going on. Inspired by the real-life cases of “fasting girls” in the Victorian era, this is a critically-acclaimed thriller from one of today’s best directors.

The Lost Lotteries (2022)

What would you do if you lost a winning lottery ticket? If it was worth millions, I imagine you would do all in your power to track it down. This is certainly the case in this Thai comedy about six individuals who go on a heist to retrieve the tickets stolen from them by a wicked mafia boss. Do they succeed? I would say the chances are pretty high, which is something not many of us can say about our own chances of winning the lottery!

1899: Season 1

This new German horror drama is from the makers of the critically acclaimed Dark so if you enjoyed losing yourself in that mind-bending masterpiece, you might want to check out this one. The series takes place in 1899 (as if you couldn’t already guess) and focuses on a group of boat passengers whose lives take a turn for the nightmarish when they set foot on a mysterious migrant boat that has been left adrift at sea. Little else is known at this stage but if Dark is anything to go by, you shouldn’t expect a story with a straightforward narrative.

Somebody: Season 1

In this South Korean thriller, the developer of a dating app called ‘Somebody’ is drawn into a police investigation when a serial killer starts using the app to attract and murder women. Kim Young-kwang (Hello, Me!) and Kim Jong Yi (Mr. Sunshine) are among the cast of this disturbing tale.

Slumberland (2022)

Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games) directs this promising new fantasy movie about a young girl who discovers a map to the dreamworld of Slumberland. With the help of eccentric outlaw Flip (Jason Momoa), she goes on an adventure of a lifetime, traversing the land of dreams in search of her father. There are no reviews for this one at the time of writing but here’s hoping it’s the stuff of dreams and not nightmares!

23rd November

Wednesday: Season 1

Legendary director Tim Burton is the man behind this latest incarnation of The Addams Family and as the title suggests, its focus is largely on Wednesday Adams (Jenna Ortega), the spooky kooky daughter of Gomez (Luis Guzmán) and Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones). The series centres around Wednesday’s misadventures at a boarding school where she attempts to master her psychic abilities and thwart a monstrous killing spree while presumably doing her damndest to creep out her more colourful classmates.
