Renewed or Cancelled?

Glitch is South Korea’s latest venture into the sci-fi territory. If you’ve enjoyed this lively K-drama about aliens and cult societies, you might be looking forward to a season 2 of the show. Here’s everything we know about it:

What is Glitch Season 1 about?

Glitch follows the life of Hong Ji-hyo, a young woman whose seemingly perfectly life gets derailed when her boyfriend suddenly disappears off the face of the Earth. As she looks for him, she finds herself drawn into conspiracy theories about aliens and UFOs. She joins a UFO forum and ends up reconnecting with Heo Bo-ra, a UFO enthusiast and live streamer, who used to be her friend in school.

With dark secrets surfacing from their past friendship, forgotten memories lurking in Ji-hyo’s childhood, and the discovery of a sinister cult, Glitch offers a fun ride into a strange world. Ji-hyo and Bo-ra’s quirky partnership is enough to keep one rooting for them till the end.

If you had any doubts about the show’s finale, you can find our ending explained here!

Has Glitch been renewed for season 2?

While a few Netflix K-dramas — like All of Us Are Dead and Love Alarm — have been renewed, it usually takes a while for the streaming giant to come out with the announcement. Despite that, most K-dramas stick to the one season format.

Generally Netflix gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly (ala. Squid Game, Bridgerton & Irregulars). Other times, it can take months before Netflix make a decision over a show’s future.

At the time of writing, Netflix has not made any official statements about the shows renewal or cancellation. All things considered, our prediction is that Glitch will not be renewed for Season 2.

The Season 1 finale wraps up most of Glitch’s storyline with no loose ends. The 10th and final episode ends with a scene showing the photonmeter being activated by Hong Ji-hyo’s presence. A mid-credit scene also shows that Ji-hyo’s ex-boyfriend Si-guk is now seeing the alien visions that once plagued her. In spite of these teasers, there is no active storyline for Season 2 to pick up.

We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available.

What we know about Season 2 so far:

There are no official details about Season 2 of Glitch yet, as Netflix has not made any announcements.

While it would be fun to watch our two eccentric female leads and their amusing antics again, there doesn’t seem much scope for character development in Season 2. Unless they come up with a whole new storyline, which is unlikely in the case of Korean dramas.

We maintain that Glitch will not be renewed for Season 2. However, should any new information become available, we will be sure to update this page
