Interview With The Vampire is an intriguing adaptation, taking Anne Rice’s novel and modernizing aspects whilst keeping the core essence of the book intact. Romance, drama and thrills abound; this one’s definitely worth watching.
If you’ve been following this one, you may be wondering if this has been renewed or cancelled. Well, wonder no more! Here’s what we know about a renewal:
Interview With The Vampire is set to be the latest Sunday night sensation on AMC. This is a contemporary reinvention of Anne Rice’s revolutionary gothic novel, following Louis de Pointe de Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia’s epic story of love and the perils of immortality.
Louis finds it impossible to resist Lestat’s offer to join him as a vampire companion, especially given the limitations as a Black man in the 1910’s. Louis’s new powers come with a heavy price though, and the introduction of child vampire Claudia sets the trio on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.
We have ongoing coverage of Interview With The Vampire across the site, including episodic recaps for every episode.
At the time of writing, Interview With The Vampire has been renewed officially for season 2. The announcement came about several weeks back following the show’s launch on AMC. According to this article from Variety, the team over at AMC are super happy with how this one has played out. In a quote from that:
“The scope and breadth of this show, and what Mark and Rolin have delivered, is just stupendous,” said Dan McDermott, president of original programming for AMC Networks and AMC Studios. “They have rendered the rich and vibrant world of Anne Rice’s Interview in a wonderful way, and we’re incredibly proud. From the set build, to production design, costumes and more — no detail was overlooked. This stellar cast deliver powerful performances that emotionally connect us to these characters and their humanity. We look forward to sharing the final product of this extraordinary effort with audiences in just a few short days and are thrilled that this story will continue. This is only the beginning of an entire Universe featuring enthralling stories and characters that capture the spirit of Anne Rice’s amazing work.”
This is great news for fans of the show, and Interview With The Vampire certainly has a lot of going for it. Whether audience numbers keep up over the course of the first season and second however, remains to be seen.
In the meantime though, we can definitively confirm that Interview With The Vampire will be returning.
The second season is likely to change tact and location, instead jetting off to Europe for its 8 episode follow-up. Expect all our characters to return, along with a healthy dose of drama and romance too.
With all of that considered, expect the second season to begin filming shortly and potentially be ready for a 2023 or 2024 launch.
