Atomic Monster, Blumhouse & New Line Unite for Evil Dead Rise Director’s New Horror Movie

Lee Cronin is set to direct a new horror movie with Atomic Monster, Blumhouse, and New Line. Marking the first collaboration between the companies. It will be made in conjunction with Cronin’s Doppelgängers banner.

The mystery film from The Hole in the Ground and Evil Dead Rise director already has a release date. It’s pencilled in for April 17, 2026.

Atomic Monster heads up exciting horror union with Lee Cronin

“I am super excited to be gathering up my gang of oddballs from Doppelgängers to join forces with the overlords of horror at Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. Collaborating with Jason, James, and the wonderful teams from these two storied and massively successful organizations is what perfect nightmares are made of,” said Cronin in a statement. ”Getting to return to New Line Cinema and my wonderful partners over there is the cherry on top. I’ve got something wickedly entertaining and terrifying hidden up my sleeve, and I can’t wait to bring it screaming to the big screen on April 17th, 2026,”

In addition, Atomic Monster’s James Wan expressed his own excitement about the partnership.

“Lee is a gifted filmmaker in the world of horror whose storytelling has electrified audiences. We’re excited to collaborate with him on this project, and to bring viewers on a wildly entertaining ride,”

Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise scared up more than $150 million at the box office last year. That made it one of 2023’s best-performing horror movies.

Lee Cronin is also helming the wintry horror Thaw for New Line.

While Cronin may be moving away from Evil Dead, the franchise is going strong. Soon, new installments in the iconic series are coming. After his phenomenal debut film The Last Stop in Yuma County, Francis Galluppi is directing the next mainline entry. Infested director Sébastien Vaniček will helm a spinoff.
