Deposed Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has left the club to report early for the Africa Cup of Nations’ camping with Gabon, The Athletic reports.
This means the 32-year-old will not be available for the Gunners’ next five fixtures.
Aubameyang has not been selected by manager Mikel Arteta, after he was punished for a disciplinary breach.
Arteta had remained coy about Aubameyang’s involvement against Manchester City on New Year’s Day, saying the club would “take it game by game”.
However, the player has now left the UK, despite Premier League clubs being granted permission to keep their African stars until after the next round of fixtures.
Patrice Neveu’s national side is due to play their first AFCON game on January 10 against Comoros.
