Real Madrid are a step closer to completing the signing of Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea.
Real Madrid are keen to sign Rudiger on a free transfer next summer.
Rudiger’s current contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of the season and the Germany international is yet to sign a new deal with the Blues.
The centre-back has rejected two salary proposals from Chelsea in recent days.
Chelsea are offering Rudiger a weekly salary of around £140,000-a-week, but the player wants that figure to double and to be on parity with the club’s top earners like Romelu Lukaku and N’Golo Kante.
Chelsea’s inability to agree on a salary has opened the door to Real Madrid and, according to Duncan Castles, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have bettered Chelsea’s offer to Rudiger.
It means Thomas Tuchel’s side must move quickly if they are to keep up their bid to make Rudiger remain at Stamford Bridge as the 28-year-old is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid from January 1st, 2022.
Rudiger has reportedly spoken to former Chelsea teammates. Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois about life in Real Madrid.
