Star Wars fans have more than the continuing adventures of Andor to watch this month as Tales Of The Jedi, a new animated series set during the prequel era is also coming to Disney+. Other titles coming to the streaming service include Marvel’s Werewolf By Night, the second season of The Mysterious Benedict Society, and Rosaline, a comedic variation on the classic Romeo and Juliet story.
Check out the highlights below and keep scrolling for a look at the other titles that are coming to Disney+ in October.
Please note: This list is correct at the time of writing but more titles will likely be revealed over the coming days.
After the tragic death of his brother, brilliant young chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) returns home to run his family’s small sandwich shop. A world away from the life he is used to, Carmen has to balance staff woes and strained family relationships while trying to turn the business into something great.
Based on the Marvel comic series of the same name, this Disney special follows a secret group of monster hunters who come face-to-face with a mythical creature when they engage in a deadly competition to retrieve a powerful relic. Shot in black and white and harkening back to the monster movies of old, this is quite unlike anything we have seen from Marvel’s television universe thus far.
A profile of Muhammad Abdul Aziz, the man who spent decades behind bars for the murder of Malcolm X in 1965. He was wrongfully convicted of the crime however and in this documentary, Aziz gives his first interview since his exoneration.
Jessica Biel stars as Candy Montgomery, a 1980s mother and housewife who suddenly snaps after years of conformity and kills her best friend (Melanie Lynsky) with an axe. This chilling tale is based on a true story and is proof, if any were needed, that we can all be pushed past our limits!
When 14-year-old African American boy Emmett Till was brutally murdered in Mississippi in 1955 after being accused of offending a white woman, his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, fought to bring her son’s body home to Chicago where she decided to hold an open-casket funeral so the public could see what happened to her son. This documentary series tells her heartbreaking story and how her quest for justice sparked the Civil Rights Movement.
Parasite actors Park Seo-joon and Choi Woo-shik join Park Hyung-sik (Soundtrack #1), BTS singer V, and rapper Peakboy for this brand new travel reality series where they spend time unwinding together on a well-earned break away from the pressures of stardom.
Do we really need another version of Shakespeare’s Romeo And Juliet? I’m not so sure although this comedic take on the classic story is less about the relationship between the ill-fated lovers and more about Rosaline, Juliet’s cousin, who also has the hots for Romeo. Crushed when her guy falls into the arms of Juliet, Rosaline schemes to foil their romance and bring back her former beau.
Sam Raimi’s trilogy closer isn’t a great outing for the web-slinger but there is still some fun to be had as Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man faces off against the Sandman, the New Goblin, and Venom. The action scenes pack a punch and the movie is visually stylish thanks to Raimi’s skilful direction, so while the story is a bit of a muddle at time, this isn’t quite the misfire that many people consider it to be.
Based on the best-selling book series by Trenton Lee Stewart, season 2 picks up a year after the intrepid orphans completed their first mission. According to the press release, the orphans “must embark on a perilous journey, relying on wits, intellect, and empathy to try to stop Curtain (the series’ antagonist) as he shifts to a new strategy with global implications.” The first series was critically well received and if you call yourself a fan of the books or the Disney adaptation, you will be keen to see the super-smart orphans’ latest adventure.
A long time ago, in an age that now seems far far away, there were very few Star Wars series on our streaming services. Thanks to Disney, there are now loads of them, including the recent Andor and this series of six animated shorts that are set around the time of the Star Wars prequels. Expect to see Qui-Gon Jinn, Anakin Skywalker, Count Dooku, Ahsoka Tano and a few other familiar faces in this forceful new series.
In order to graduate, Ryota Moriyama (Shoyuki Hayama), a senior at Kyoritsu University, is told by a professor that he has to join the sumo club and compete in at least one sumo match. Unfortunately, the club has only one member, Honoka Oba, and it is on the brink of collapse. The series follows Ryota as he tries to recruit new members to the squad while enduring Honoka’s strict training methods.
