United fans have finally got their wish in regard to the current owner, with the Glazer family now open to selling the club and considering full takeovers as well as partial investment.

It means that the club look set to enter the January transfer window in a state of uncertainty with no new owners lined up as of yet.

Despite that though, Ten Hag is feeling positive about the situation, saying that he’s been told by chief executive Richard Arnold that it will result in more funds becoming available to him.

“He said they’re (the Glazers) open and transparent,” the Dutchman told The Athletic.

“We spoke about the culture we want, we spoke about objectives, goals and the culture and he confirmed it won’t change, that it will be even better because more money will become available for this project.

“My information is that it will only be good things, because there will be more investment possible, which is good. I look at the competition around the Premier League, they all have the opportunity to invest. It’s a tough competition between seven or eight clubs.”

United already look set to spend money in January. The club is a frontrunner for Netherlands starlet Cody Gakpo, who PSV Eindhoven are expecting to be on the move this winter.

PSV will demand a club record selling price for the 23-year-old, who was wanted by Southampton and Leeds in August, which means a transfer fee in excess of €40m (£34m).
