As a kid, Nassef had his secondary education at the Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule Kairo. After his secondary education, he gained admission to the University of Chicago. That was where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Nassef Sawiris had held several major positions in different companies even before 1982. In 1982, he joined the Orascom Group. While at the Orascom group, he used to handle construction activities.

He actually became the Chief Executive Officer of this company after it was incorporated. Their incorporation took place back in 1998. He has also served as a board member for Besix after OCI SAE acquired 50% of the company stakes in 2004.

He has been a board member for several companies and organizations like the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchange (2004-2007), and also the Dubai International Financial Exchange in 2008.

Mike was actually born to the family of Mr. Michael Agbolade Adenuga Snr, and Mrs. Omoba Julian Oyindamola Adenuga. His father was a school tutor, while his mother was a businesswomen.

Mike Adenuga attended the Ibadan Grammar School. This was where he had part of his secondary education, before moving to Comprehensive High School in Aiyetoro where he had his HSC (Higher School Certificate).

After graduation from college, he started the transport business as a taxi driver. He actually did this to help fund his education to the higher institution. Mike later graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, and later, Pace University in New York.

Mike Adenuga started business early in life. At just 26, he had already made his first million from business. He made this money from the sales of soft drinks. In 1990, Mike received a drilling license. Just a year later, his company ‘Consolidated Oil’ discovered oil in the shallow waters of Ondo State.

This was the first time an indigenous company actually drilled oil in commercial quantity. A few years later in 1999, Mike Adenuga was given a GSM license which was later revoked. However, he received a second license when the government held an auction in 2003.

After he started Globacom, it was quickly accepted by the masses, and it is used almost everywhere in the nation today. They are the second largest telecom company in Nigeria today.

He stayed in this position until 2011. Nicky was chosen as the chairman of the Central Selling Organisation. This company is now Diamond Trading Company. He is also the deputy chairman of De Beers Consolidated Mines.

Just about a year after his appointment in the company, he became the chairman of De Beers in 1985. He later retired when his family stake was sold to the Anglo American
