Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who is a staunch fan of English Premier League side, Arsenal, on Saturday, taunted supporters of rival Chelsea after the Gunners beat Frank Lampard’s side 3-1 to ease their relegation fears.
The Gunners lifted the pressure on beleaguered boss Mikel Arteta with the much-needed win against Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.
Arteta’s side sat just three points above the relegation zone before kick-off after their worst start to a season since 1974/75 season
Nigerian football lovers have since taken to Twitter to hail the Gunners’ performance during the match, while they also taunted Chelsea fans.
@atiku wrote, “I would usually expect my son, @HHMustaphaAA, to reach out to me on days like this, but it is almost half an hour since the #ARSvCHE game ended, no word. Can anyone tell me why?”
Responding, @HHMustaphaAA, an apparent Chelsea fan, wrote, “Congratulations on a well-deserved victory, Dad. Hopefully you can stay away from the relegation battle.”
Another user, @LemonadeReine described Arsenal’s victory as “the best Christmas gift ever”.
“We will run new Arsenal shirt giveaways tomorrow,” enthused activist Japhet Omojuwa who had earlier predicted that “Arsenal will start their recovery with Chelsea”.
A consoled @Liebe_well tweeted, “A big win. Even if it doesn’t come in the next 3years, we are alright.”
“God can just shame our enemies when the least expect, this is a typical example,” @iamLaBii threw punches at Chelsea fans on Boxing Day.
