Declan Rice and Callum Wilson missed Wednesday’s training session ahead of England’s World Cup quarter-final with France on Saturday.

The Three Lions are unbeaten in their opening four matches at this winter’s tournament so far, winning three and drawing one.

Rice has started all four games while Wilson came off the bench in victories against Iran and Wales, but both are facing a race against time to be fit for this weekend’s mammoth clash.

West Ham captain Rice missed out with an illness, while Newcastle striker Wilson has been sidelined with a minor muscle strain.

Ben White has already pulled out of the squad due to personal reasons, while Raheem Sterling is currently back in England following a break-in at his Surrey home, leaving 22 players available to Gareth Southgate for Wednesday’s training session.

England head into the quarter-finals full of confidence after beating Senegal in their last 16 tie on Sunday.

Goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka helped the Three Lions to a comfortable victory, booking a date with France after they overcame Poland 3-1 – inspired by a brace from Kylian Mbappe.
