New Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly identified Real Madrid’s Nacho Fernandez as a potential replacement for captain Cesar Azpilicueta this summer, according to OK Diario.
Azpilicueta, 33, is in the twilight of his professional football career.
Chelsea look to rebuild under Pochettino next season after a disastrous 2022/23 campaign, adding a right-back to the team could be a smart idea.
Pochettino has turned his attention towards Nacho, who is currently in the final stage of his Real Madrid contract.
Nacho is yet to sign an extension with Madrid. Hence, he could leave Santiago Bernabeu for free.
The Spaniard could prove to be a solid backup or even a replacement for Azpilicueta at Chelsea.
The 33-year-old has the experience of playing in the biggest games during his time at Madrid.
