Pere Egbi, the reality TV star, who is also known as ‘the General’ has hailed the Black Stars of Ghana.
He praised the Black Stars despite their 3-2 loss to Portugal in the opener of their Group H World Cup campaign in Qatar 2022.
It will be Ghana’s first appearance at the tournament since 2014 after missing out on the World Cup in Russia in 2018.
After a spectacular end that saw five goals scored in just 24 minutes with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the first, the Portuguese come back to win a crucial match despite a late scare.
Andre Ayew equalised for Ghana shortly afterwards but Portugal took a 3-1 lead with goals from Joao Felix and Rafael Leao.
Osman Bukari scored a late consolation for Ghana.
On Tuesday, March 29, 2022, Ghana held Nigeria to a 1-1 draw in Abuja, winning the tie on away goals to become the first African country to book a ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The first leg of the playoff finished in a goalless draw at Kumasi but Ghana bagged a crucial away goal through Thomas Partey inside 10 minutes.
Nigeria equalised after 22 minutes through a William Troost-Ekong penalty but the Black Stars held on and booked a place in Qatar later this year.
The Selecao of Portugal also defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria 4-0 last Thursday November, 17 in their first-ever meeting in preparation for the World Cup.
In a tweet, Pere hailed the Ghanaian team, describing them as much better compared to the Super Eagles of Nigeria who are not participating in the tournament.
He specifically commended them for their skillfulness on the pitch during their play time with Ronaldo’s Portugal.
“Ghana is a much more better team than the Super Eagles. See how they playing Portugal,” he tweeted.
