Lampoons Buhari’s APC govt
Former Vice President and presidential aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has promised to tackle insecurity and unify the county if given the opportunity to become president.

Atiku, in a meeting, yesterday, with party delegates in Katsina State, said his government would bring back peace to the country, for quality socio-economic transformation.

Speaking at the state’s PDP secretariat, the former VP lamented the leadership style of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he said brought troubles and division among Nigerians.

He said APC’s leadership style made some groups and parts of the country feel neglected; hence peace and unity were elusive in the national space.

The presidential hopeful assured that if given the opportunity to become president, he would work at promoting peace and unity among Nigerians, carrying along all regions and religions.

His words: “By this, I mean that no part of this country will be neglected; every part will have a sense of belonging. It is only when you do that, that you can get the country united.

“Let me give you an example. In 1999 when we PDP won the election convincingly because there was serious crisis in the country, we decided to form a government of national unity. We brought Alliance for Democracy (AD) and the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) into the cabinet. As soon as we did that, there was calm and peace in the country.”

According to the Wazirin Adamawa, that peace enabled the country to undertake reforms that made it the biggest economy in Africa.

On security, Atiku promised to tackle terrorism and related criminalities.

“These terrorists that are doing whatever they like under the APC government will not do the same under PDP government. We’ll deal with them.

“Earlier today, while coming here in an aeroplane, we could see the ground from the sky in every direction. They tell us that there is a forest where terrorists are hiding. Where is the forest? I don’t see any forest where terrorists will be hiding that we cannot reach them,” he added.

He, however, called on the delegates to vote for him during the party’s presidential primary, so that the plans he had for the country would come to fruition.
