Reassures a better Nigeria

Vice President (VP), Yemi Osinbajo, has reassured Nigerians of his readiness to sustain and improve on President Muhammadu Buhari’s development policies and programmes if elected.

Osinbajo gave the assurance when he consulted, jointly, with delegates of the All Progressive Congress (APC) from Abia and Ebonyi states in Owerri, Imo State capital, yesterday.

The Guardian gathered that the VP chose Owerri, instead of Umuahia or Abakaliki for the joint consultation, following the alleged threat issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) against the visit.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the meeting, Osinbajo said the meeting provided him further opportunity to discuss several issues of great concern to the South East people and the APC as a party.

He described the outcome of the meeting as reassuring, robust, fruitful and essential to his aspiration to succeed President Buhari in 2023.

He said: “In the meeting, we have been able to arrive at several conclusions on what to do when we take over, by the grace of God. It was a robust engagement and fantastic as well.”

The Guardian further gathered from some of the delegates at the closed-door meeting, which lasted for about two hours, that some of the issues discussed include security, infrastructure, economy, health, and education, among others.
