MESSAGE:

Counselling is very important in the life of every teenager to help you make crucial decisions as you journey on in life. However, the quality of your decisions will be determined by the strength of advice you receive concerning a situation, which in turn is based on the experience and training of your adviser.

An advisor/counsellor is the one a person consults when he/she doesn’t know what next to do. It is believed that a counsellor has a great deal of knowledge or expertise in handling particular situations. For example, a girl aspiring to be the Director of an international organization will not seek advice from a school dropout, nor would a boy who intends to be a world renowned medical doctor seek counsel from a garbage man. This is because such advisors would not have quality counsel in the areas of the teenagers’ ambitions to propel them to attain those great heights.

Similarly, you must be careful not to receive counsel from unbelievers so that they would not cause you to stray from God. Do you know that you need counselling to succeed in your academics, career and family? However, be wary of any counsel or advise that could work against you.

ACTION POINT:

Seek a godly counsellor on the matters you are confused about.

HYMN: Lead Us Heavenly Father

  1. Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us
    o’er the world’s tempestuous sea;
    guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
    for we have no help but Thee;
    yet possessing every blessing,
    if our God our Father be.
  2. Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us:
    all our weakness Thou dost know;
    Thou didst tread this earth before us,
    Thou didst feel its keenest woe;
    lone and dreary, faint and weary,
    through the desert Thou didst go.
  3. Spirit of our God, descending,
    fill our hearts with heavenly joy,
    love with every passion blending,
    pleasure that can never cloy:
    thus provided, pardoned, guided,
    nothing can our peace destroy.
