The hefty $17.35 million is the second-largest Thursday night opening in Spider-Man history, trailing only behind Spider-Man: No Way Home at $50 million.

This Thursday night opening is also the second highest for animated films, with the highest being Incredibles 2 with $18.5 million. Ultimately, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to pull in $80-90 million in its opening weekend. That will more than double its predecessor’s $35.4 million opening weekend.
