One person killed in boat mishap in Niger state

At least one person has been confirmed dead in a boat mishap that occured at Zumba in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State on Saturday morning, July 23.

The passengers were said to be traveling to the popular Saturday market when the accident occurred.

The wooden boat was said to be overloaded with mostly women, children and goods when it capsized.

The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Inga, confirmed the incident and said one corpse has been retrieved from the river, while one of the victims was rescued alive.
