Cristiano Ronaldo says he will reveal the truth about his ongoing transfer saga at Manchester United in an interview ‘in a couple of weeks’ after claiming the vast majority of reports about his situation have been false.

The 37-year-old’s future has been a huge part of football coverage over the summer and continues to be while the transfer window remains open.

It is believed that the striker wants to leave Old Trafford and move to a Champions League club, but the Red Devils do not want to let him go, with one year to run on his contract.

It also seems that no Champions League clubs have offered Ronaldo a route out of Manchester United, with no bids coming in for the veteran who commands enormous wages.

Ronaldo is still very much a United man and played in both Premier League games so far this season, cutting a frustrated figure after defeats to Brighton and Brentford.

He now looks most likely to remain with the Red Devils this season, but he has promised to tell his side of the story in an upcoming interview, hopefully revealing what has been going on between him and the club.

Adorably, the former Real Madrid superstar says he has kept a notebook of everything written about him this summer, and only five things in it have been true.

Replying to speculation on his future on Instagram, Ronaldo wrote: ‘They know the truth when they interview in a couple weeks. The media is telling lies.

‘I have a notebook and in the last few months of the 100 news I made, only 5 were right. Imagine how it is. Stick with that tip.’

United manager Erik ten Hag also suggested that reports about Ronaldo’s future were not accurate, saying that the striker has not asked him to leave.

‘That is your assumption [that Ronaldo wishes to depart],’ said Ten Hag.

‘That is not what he is telling me. So I deal with the players we have and we plan with him for this season and we have to fit him into the team so he has to come at the right fitness levels so that he can do the job that we expect him to do.’
