READ: 2 Kings 6:11-17 (KJV)

  1. Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?
  2. And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
  3. And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
  4. Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.
  5. And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
  6. And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
  7. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Acts 15:22-41, Job 40-42

MESSAGE:

In today’s Bible reading, Elisha’s servant enjoyed the same protection as his master because of association. One of my sons says it often that your association determines your allocation, which means that what comes to you is as a result of those who surround you. When God made a covenant with Abraham, He purposed that the blessing would outlive him and He would make sure that through his seed, every nation on earth would be blessed. Today, anyone who believes in Jesus becomes the seed of Abraham and by extension, enjoys the blessings of Abraham (Galatians 3:13-14).

As a child of God, be mindful of those you mingle or associate with because their blessings or curses could rub off on you. When God asked Abraham to leave his fatherland, he took Lot along. God didn’t fulfil His promise in the life of Abraham until he separated himself from Lot. There are some relationships that will hinder the move of God in your life. Thus, if you’re entangled with the wrong person, separate yourself from the fellow today. Go back to God and build a relationship with Him so that He can guide you on whom to associate with henceforth.

ACTION POINT:

Break away from every negative association without looking back.

HYMN: There Shall Be Showers Of Blessing

  1. “There shall be showers of blessing:”
    This is the promise of love;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    Sent from the Saviour above.

CHORUS
Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.

  1. “There shall be showers of
    blessing,”
    Precious reviving again;
    Over the hills and the valleys,
    Sound of abundance of rain.
  2. “There shall be showers of blessing;”
    Send them upon us, Oh Lord;
    Grant to us now a refreshing,
    Come and now honour Thy Word.
  3. “There shall be showers of blessing:”
    Oh, that today they might fall,
    Now as to God we’re confessing,
    Now as on Jesus we call!
  4. “There shall be showers of blessing,”
    If we but trust and obey;
    There shall be seasons refreshing,
    If we let God have His way.
