Exclusive: Frank Onyeka reveals next move as Brentford lineup Thomas Frank’s replacement

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has admitted that he is uncertain about his future at English Premier League club Brentford, Soccernet.ng reports.
Onyeka joined Brentford from Danish giants in 2021, and it has been a topsy-turvy stay for him. Under the tutelage of coach former coach Thomas Frank, there were periods when Onyeka enjoyed a lot of game time, while there were times when he was benched a lot.
Last summer, the 27-year-old midfielder was deemed as surplus to requirements and had to leave for German Bundesliga club Augsburg in a season-long loan.

At Augsburg, he was one of Jess Thorup’s most reliable legs, making 31 appearances in the run-up to their 12th-place finish in the Bundesliga.
However, despite his decent performances at Augsburg, the clubs decided against signing Onyeka permanently, as they confirmed that he was leaving at the end of the last Bundesliga campaign.

Onyeka is back at Brentford, but his future is still in the balance, as it is unconfirmed if he will stay or leave for another club this summer.
The Super Eagles star recently opened up about his transfer situation. But he admitted that he does not know where he will be next season.
“The aim right now is to go back to Brentford, I don’t know who the new coach is. So I have to speak to him to know what is going on. And then, we can take it from there,” Onyeka told Soccernet.ng exclusively.

Now, according to English reporter Ben Jacobs, Brentford are close to appointing Keith Andrews as their new coach.
The 44-year-old has been working as Brentford’s technical coach since last year, after previous stints with MK Dons the Irish Under-21s, and the Irish senior team as assistant manager.
Andrews has never worked with Onyeka, so the Super Eagles star might have a clean slate with him.
If Onyeka can prove himself to coach Andrews during pre-season, he can fancy his chances if being a regular for the Bees next season.
