Royal Queens FC of Warri

Promoters of Royal Queens of Warri believe their club’s entry into the scene would change the way Nigerians view women soccer.

Royal Queens, established in January 2019 as a grassroots/academy team by Dr. and Mrs. Omatsola Sifo, has within the period won the 2019 women, professional league, a feat they achieved in October last year at the Confluence Stadium, in Lokoja, Koji State. 

Among their victims at the competition are Pelican Stars and the Police Machine team.

Speaking on the mission of the club, Royal Queens’ CEO, Sifo Matilda Obiageli, said the club’s aim is to remove the girl/child off the streets by providing an enjoyable means of livelihood for her.

Supported by such dignitaries as the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, and Barrister Eroro Emiko, who is their legal adviser, Royal Queens have a clubhouse, a two-storey building known as the ‘Royal Pavilion,’ a brand new 18-seater Toyota Hiace Hummer Bus to ease the players and officials movement and customised sets of jerseys to show their readiness for the upcoming 2020/2021Nigeria Women Premier League.

With Ulimasan Kelly Edema, as team manager, the coaching crew includes Abayomi Olorunde, as head coach, and Ehis Airemen and Peters as assistant coaches. 

Speaking on the team’s readiness for the coming season, Sifo Matilda Obiageli said they have put behind them their round of 16 exits at the 2019 Aiteo Cup, where they represented Delta State, adding that they are working with the coaching crew to actualize their ambition of winning the NWFL and the Aiteo Cup in the 2020/2021 season.

In the 2019 Aiteo Cup, Royal Queens defeated Moje FC of Kwara State before losing to Edo Queens on penalties after a goalless draw.
