Former Liverpool forward, Luis Suarez has opened up on the “weeks” of suffering he and his FC Barcelona team-mates endured after last season’s defeat to the Reds.
Liverpool produced a stunning comeback in last season’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) to stun Suarez’s Barcelona at Anfield.
Despite the Spanish giants taking a 3-0 lead into the second-leg of their UCL semifinal at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s side produced one of the most memorable comebacks football has ever seen to secure their place in the final with a 4-3 aggregate win.
Klopp’s side then went on to collect a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the final in Madrid, claiming their sixth European crown in the process.
And Suarez , recalling the days and weeks following the defeat, has admitted his side are still searching for an explanation as to how and why they collapsed the way they did at Anfield.
“It was days, weeks, that we who loved to take the kids to school, football, activities, we suffered … I did not want to leave from home after losing,” Suarez told Fox Sports Radio in Argentina.
“It was very complicated. I really had a bad time, like most of my team-mates.
“We had already learned the previous year that we could have such a 3-0 result in our favour, but football has that.
“We knew how Anfield was going to be and how tight the stadium was, I told the teammates and everything.
“It is not necessary to take away merits from Liverpool, which pushed the fans.
“In five minutes they had two situations, at 15 minutes they already won and that enters you, it generates nervousness.”
