Neymar is at the centre of the summer’s biggest transfer tussle as Barcelona and Real Madrid battle it out to sign him before the close of the transfer window.
Neymar, 27, may have hinted he would prefer to join Barcelona over Real Madrid with a flurry of social media activity on Sunday night.
He has been heavily linked with a return to the Nou Camp just two years after leaving for Paris Saint-Germain in a world-record £200million deal.
While his current employers were cruising to a 4-0 win over Toulouse on Sunday – a game Neymar was not involved in – former side Barca were playing Real Betis.
Antoine Griezmann was the two-goal hero for the Spanish giants in a thumping 5-2 victory and Neymar was quick to pay tribute to the display as he liked posts on Instagram that included pictures of Griezmann and Sergi Roberto.
Spanish publication AS say it is a ‘nod’ in the direction of Barca as he is looking to do all he can to convince them to re-sign him.
As it stands, Barcelona are struggling to raise the cash as they have already spent more than £200m on new players this summer and PSG want to recoup all the money they spent to take him to France in the first place.
Real Madrid are in a similar situation as they have spent big in the window as well.
Meanwhile, if Neymar’s social media stance is anything to go by it is worth noting his father recently followed Real captain Sergio Ramos on Instagram.
Ramos has made no secret of his desire for the club too bring in the Brazilian.
“Neymar is a top player, among the top three in the world,” he previously said.
“Talking about signings is a lack of respect for this great team.
“These things are always talked about at Real Madrid and even more so when the transfer window is open.
“Players must be cold with these things.”
Time is running out for Neymar’s future to be resolved and previous reports have suggested he might have to move on loan before a deal is made permanent next summer.
The transfer windows in France and Spain close on September 2.
